2. SNAP Snap roller into handle and it’s ready for use.

3. RECHARGE During therapy, the Cold roller may need to “Recharge” as rolling Therma1™on your body may warm roller. Remove roller from skin for up to 1 minute to allow roller surface to regain optimal temperature.

4. STORE Store roller in the freezer so it’s ready to use when you are.

How to Use the Therma1™ Recharge Roller for COLD Therapy:
Typically, cold therapy is recommended early in the treatment period for up to 1 to 2 weeks following injury.

Before use, ensure roller surface is clean. Do not use on open wounds; use only where skin is intact. Consult your healthcare provider about using Therma1™ after surgery.

Roll over the affected area applying gentle pressure as tolerated. Do this for 2-3 minutes at a time. During therapy, the Cold roller may need to “Recharge” as rolling Therma1™ on your body may warm roller. Remove roller from skin for up to 1 minute to allow roller surface to regain optimal temperature. Compression and massage will be achieved simultaneously to improve the effectiveness of cold therapy. For increased compression, apply more pressure as tolerated.

In the early phase of injury, Cold Therapy (Cryotherapy) can be applied as frequently as every hour. Practically speaking, plan to apply cold therapy to the affected area 3 to 4 times a day.

Place the roller back in the freezer in between treatments and when not in use. Cease use of the product if:

• the roller breaks, cracks or contains any visible defects. • the handle breaks or cracks. • product leaks from the roller.

Keep out of reach of children. For more instructions on how to use Therma1™ for treatments go to http://www.therma1.com/treatments

HEATING INSTRUCTIONS FOR RECHARGE HOT ROLLER (RED label)

1. HEAT*
Detach roller from handle as shown in the diagram (see GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS). Place roller FLAT (horizontal) on microwave-safe plate on turntable.
YOU MUST USE A MICROWAVE TURNTABLE DURING HEATING OR DAMAGE WILL OCCUR. DO NOT PLACE ROLLER ON METAL RACK, IF PRESENT, AS DAMAGE WILL OCCUR.

Heat for 2 MINUTES. (Microwave performance varies greatly so heating times may vary.) Test for desired temperature. (Roller will continue to get warmer after microwaving.)

If necessary, heat roller in up to 30-second increments until roller is at desired temperature. Repeat this step up to 3 times until roller is at desired temperature. DO NOT HEAT FOR MORE than a TOTAL of 3 minutes 30 seconds. ALWAYS TEST ROLLER FOR DESIRED TEMPERATURE BETWEEN INCREMENTS.

*WARNING: DO NOT HEAT ROLLER CONTINUOUSLY FOR MORE THAN 2 MINUTES TO AVOID INJURY AND ROLLER DAMAGE. IF OVERHEATING OCCURS, HOT LIQUIFIED CONTENTS WILL RELEASE FROM THE ROLLER AND ROLLER DAMAGE WILL OCCUR.

2. SNAP
Snap roller into handle and it’s ready for use.

3. RECHARGE
During therapy, the Hot roller may need to “Recharge” as rolling Therma1™ on your body may cool roller. Simply pull the roller away from the skin for up to 1 minute to allow the Roller surface to regain optimal temperature.

4. REHEAT
To re-heat roller during therapy, heat roller in up to 1-minute increments until roller is at desired temperature. ALWAYS TEST ROLLER FOR DESIRED TEMPERATURE BETWEEN INCREMENTS.

WARNING: Handle with care when removing roller from microwave and snapping into handle. Microwave ovens vary in performance, and the roller may be very hot. Failure to follow these instructions may result in over-heating, may damage the roller and may cause injury. Failure to follow these instructions will void the product’s limited warranty. If the contents of the roller are released or the roller becomes damaged, discontinue use. Do not heat roller in an oven range or similar appliance. If you do not have a microwave, see ALTERNATE STOVETOP METHOD below.

*Heating times are based on 1200-watt microwave oven use. Microwave performance varies greatly, so heating times may vary, especially in ovens below 1000-watts.

ALTERNATE STOVE-TOP HEATING METHOD

To heat roller safely using a stove-top method, please follow the steps below:

1) Fill a small saucepan about half-full with water and bring to boil.
2) REMOVE saucepan from heat source.
3) Place the Hot Roller inside a 1-quart size zip-top freezer bag. Seal bag carefully.
4) Place sealed freezer bag in pan of water and let sit for 10-15 minutes.
5) Carefully remove bag from water (CAUTION: Water will be hot), wipe dry and test roller for desired temperature.
6) If more heat is desired, return roller in sealed freezer bag to the pan of water and let sit an additional 10 minutes.
DO NOT PLACE ROLLER IN SAUCEPAN WITHOUT SEALED BAG. SUBMERGING WITHOUT BAG COULD CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ROLLER.

NEVER PLACE BAG IN SAUCEPAN WHILE OPEN FLAMES ARE PRESENT. ALWAYS REMOVE SAUCEPAN FROM HEAT SOURCE BEFORE PLACING SEALED BAG WITH ROLLER IN WATER.

How to Use the Therma1™ Recharge Roller for HEAT Therapy

Typically, heat therapy can be used on injured areas after the first 72 hours following injury. You may also use heat therapy to warm up uninjured muscles before starting exercise or whenever you wish to provide relaxing massage to fatigued muscles.

Before use, ensure roller surface is clean. Do not use on open wounds; use only where skin is intact. Consult your healthcare provider about using Therma1™ after surgery.

Roll over the affected area applying gentle pressure as tolerated. A lighter pressure should be used for injuries and around joints. For a deep heating massage effect, you may want to apply more pressure, as tolerated.

Use the heated roller for at least 5 minutes for maximum effect. During therapy, the Hot roller may need to “Recharge” as rolling Therma1™ on your body may cool roller. Simply pull the roller away from the skin for up to 1 minute to allow the Roller surface to regain optimal temperature.

Heat therapy is typically used about 72 hours after the injury and can be applied to the affected area 3 to 4 times a day. Cease use of the product if:

• the roller breaks, cracks or contains any visible defects.
• the handle breaks or cracks.
• product leaks from the roller.

How to Use the Therma1™ INSTANT Roller for COLD Therapy using Instant Cold single-use pack:

Typically, cold therapy is recommended early in the treatment period for up to 1 to 2 weeks following injury. Although the Therma1™ Instant Cold pack will become cold enough for therapeutic benefit, it will not be uncomfortable like ice.

Before use, ensure roller surface is clean. Do not use on open wounds; use only where skin is intact. Consult your healthcare provider about using Therma1™ after surgery.

Roll over the affected area applying gentle pressure as tolerated. Do this for 2-3 minutes at a time. Compression and massage will be achieved simultaneously to improve the effectiveness of cold therapy. For increased compression, apply more pressure as tolerated.

Your Instant Cold pack will remain cold for about 10-15 minutes depending on the ambient temperature. You may need to use more than one Instant Cold pack depending on the length of therapy.

In the early phase of injury, Cold Therapy (Cryotherapy) can be applied as frequently as every hour. Practically speaking, plan to apply cold therapy to the affected area 3 to 4 times a day.
